As seen in a previous post, The Shed machine was super sluggish… considering it’s well into a decade of age and was a low budget machine at the time you can’t blame it.
I decided to run a slightly lighter operating system on her and whilst I was at it fit up a new Solid State Drive ( SSD ). The read/write capability of an SSD is so much faster than an older drive, and, coupled with a Linux strain such as Bodhi, It’s fresh again!
As you can see below, boot time is really efficient, but, overall the system runs very very well and is inside the hardware to the point where it just laps it up. It streams videos full screen with no lag now and will be a staple out in the garage when I’m watching Motortrend!
This is solid proof of just how easily, cheaply and quickly you can revive an old system and use it in today’s world.
